Child Development Center
Purpose / Mission
Our Child Development Center is here to serve the childcare needs of the students, staff and faculty of Northern New Mexico College. We will provide: a center that is clean, safe, caring, loving and fun; a program that will promote developmentally appropriate activities that encourage learning; a program to facilitate social, emotional, fine and gross motor skills, language development, and the growth of intellectual skills.
Philosphy
As Early Childhood Educators, our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, homelike environment where children can grow, explore and enrich their life experience.
We will provide a developmentally appropriate setting where children participate in self-initiated learning.
The child as a whole-emotional, social, physical and intellectual, will be nurtured through dramatic play, cooking, art, music, creative movement, block play, and social interaction with peers and nurturing supportive caregivers.
Curriculum
The Curriculum is planned to meet the needs of each individual child as they grow in the needs of each individual child as they grow in their ability to think and communicate. Interest centers are arranged to promote independence, give children choices, foster decision-making and encourage involvement. We the staff at the Child Development Center believe that children think and learn through play and exploration. Play is significant in the development of children physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.
