All Students and Staff: Obtain FREE licenses of Microsoft Office

Current students and staff with @nnmc.edu e-mail addresses can now obtain free licenses of Microsoft Office 365 as part of Northern New Mexico College’s agreement with Microsoft.

Our agreement allows students and staff to access and install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Publisher, and Access on up to 5 PCs or Macs and Office apps on other mobile devices including Windows tablets and iPads®. The plan also includes 1TB of OneDrive storage, managed by Northern New Mexico College.

If you are eligible, you can use the plan until you graduate or are no longer enrolled or employed at Northern New Mexico College. Eligibility may be re-verified at any time.

At expiration, the Office applications enter a reduced-functionality mode, which means documents can be viewed but it isn’t possible to edit or create new documents. In addition, online services associated with your Northern New Mexico College e-mail address, for example Office Online and OneDrive, will no longer work.

An Internet connection is required to download the software.

How to access your free software:

  • Navigate to the NNMC Microsoft Portal in the Internet browser of your choosing.
  • On the next screen, enter your NNMC email address (ending in @nnmc.edu) to confirm you have an account. (If you receive the error message "This username may be incorrect. Make sure you typed it correctly. Otherwise, contact your admin") please submit a help desk ticket for assistance.
  • When the system requests it, please enter your password.
  • To enhance your account security, you'll be required to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) during your first login. You'll then be prompted to create a new, more secure password for your account.
  • Upon successful account registration and completion of the multi-factor authentication setup process, the next screen will display the NNMC Microsoft Apps Dashboard.
  • The NNMC Microsoft Apps dashboard is a central hub where you can access various Microsoft applications and services using your NNMC ID credentials. Here are some common actions you can perform:
    • Access core applications:
      • Microsoft 365 Apps:
        • Word: Create and edit documents.
        • Excel: Create and manage spreadsheets.
        • PowerPoint: Create and deliver presentations.
        • OneDrive: Store and share files.
        • Teams: Collaborate with others through chat, video calls, and file sharing.
      • While the NNMC Microsoft Apps Dashboard provides access to web-based versions of core applications, you can visit
microsoft365.com to download and install desktop applications for offline use.
