President Balderas began his term in January 2023 as Northern’s 22nd president, after serving two terms as New Mexico Attorney General. He conducted a 100 Day Listen & Learn Tour with students, faculty, staff and community.

The Office of the Provost is responsible for all aspects of the academic mission, including instruction, student services, and educational and student services personnel. The Provost collaborates to provide an exceptional educational experience through high-quality academic programs that serve our diverse students, faculty, staff, and community.

Chief Financial Officer/Compliance Officer
The Northern New Mexico College Business office receives and records payments, processes payments to vendors, assists students with their student accounts, purchases services and tangible items for the College, and ships and receives items. Ultimately, it is this office’s responsibility to report the financial position of the College as accurately as possible.

Matt Baca, JD
General Counsel
The Office of General Counsel at Northern provides strategic legal advice and counsel to the College's Board of Regents and administration, including on matters such as contract negotiation, compliance, and risk management. The General Counsel collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all legal matters involving the College align with the College's mission and objectives.
Board of Regents
The NNMC Board of Regents is composed of five members who are nominated by the Governor of New Mexico and appointed by and with consent of the Senate, for staggered terms of six years except for the student regent who is appointed for a two-year term.
The Board’s power to govern the College includes fiduciary responsibility for its assets and programs, the establishment of goals and policies, and oversight of the functioning of the institution. The Board vests responsibility for the operation and management of the College in the President, its sole employee.
