Why Liberal Arts @ Northern?
Not sure what to major in? AA Liberal Arts can help you find your path! A Liberal Arts AA builds a strong academic foundation with broad knowledge of the wider world (e.g. science, culture, and society). You can also take classes that offer an in-depth study in a specific area. This program introduces you to courses in a variety of fields at NNMC and is transferable to bachelor’s degree programs in other departments such as a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies.
Career pathways
- Many students taking the Liberal Arts AA transfer to a bachelor’s program in English, Journalism, Writing and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, Communications or Literature.
- Student may transfer to more diverse fields, such as Biology, Anthropology, Feminist Studies, Computer Science, Exercise Science, Political Science, or Southwest Studies.
- Liberal Arts provides a strong foundation in communication and critical thinking skills that employers value for positions such as director, program coordinator or administrative assistant in non-profit agencies, business, and government.
