Announcing Trickster 2025: Call for submissions
CALLING ALL NEW MEXICO
WRITERS & ARTISTS
TRICKSTER 2025 will focus on work about “Movement”
Stop for a second and capture a moment of your life and picture it. What do you see? The wind flowing through the wind chimes that have hung on your porch your entire life, or that creaky old swing you loved as a child? Remember when you were watching the clock numbers change while laughing all night with a friend? Every memory, everything we see and do, every relationship we have, is infused with movement. We are moved physically and emotionally, and we move the world we live in.
Our tricksters can be based on our experiences! Here in the land of Enchantment, we have a lot of unique experiences with movement. Think of the cold air against the roar of the flames that lift our hot air balloons and burn our sorrows away through Zozobra. And how could you forget the car shows with our iconic local low-riders? Recall the bouncing bells on Powwow Regalia while our Native dancers match the rhythm of their feet to the beat of their drums. The tricksters in us and all around us are always in motion and are always inspiring us to create and expand on what we know.
Like our moving tricksters, we’re looking for work that moves, surprises us, and even changes shape before our eyes. We want what we aren't expecting. Let your thoughts flow like the Rio Grande and bring us with you!
